Zoe on Weight Loss Surgery Podcast

Posted on 2 0

Hello from Amsterdam! Yes, I know it has been a very long time since I posted anything here on my blog. Years in fact. So that means most of my readers have had their surgery or are now, like me, veterans. I sincerely hope your journey has been as positive and exciting as mine has been.

I am now almost six years out, with a breast reduction (so happy about that one!) and tummy tuck (glad I had it done, but not as happy with it as the breasts). I managed to stay at my goal weight for most of that time, but this past 18 months I put some back on … gained 8 lbs but have now lost 3 of that, so I feel confident I can get back there again.

I’m writing today because I was invited for an interview with Reeger Cortell, who produces the Weight Loss Surgery Podcast. Reeger is a Nurse Practitioner at a weight loss clinic in Oregon and an all-around wonderful and funny woman! We had a great time on the podcast, and if you are not already listening to her weekly podcasts, I encourage you to do so. They are fascinating and informative—her guests are always interesting and she is so knowledgeable in this field. I learn something every time I listen. And please support her podcast if you can!

You can click on the image below to hear my interview. If you haven’t read my book, it will give you an overview of my weird journey into this life-saving decision.

By the way, I’m still living in Amsterdam and loving it here. Hope you have found your own joy as well.

I was thinking of you this summer when we were in Amsterdam and wondered how you were. Glad to to know you’re doing well. I’m now almost 5 years out and have regained 30 pounds in the last eighteen months or so. To much traveling. I’ve lost 6 of it now and am working hard to get off the rest. It’s much harder this time around.

What a pity you didn’t let me know you were in Amsterdam. I would have loved to meet you; but I also know I have been very silent as well.

I’m so sorry to hear about your weight gain; my lowest was 133# but I really only saw that number for 5 minutes…but I was 139 for many years until the past two years.
I am (halfway) thinking of starting a retreat for veteran sleevers; a week-long wellness retreat focused on veteran sleevers to get back on track. I would think there are so many of us at this point that would be interested in doing that. But if I did, I would only do it in Europe and I have a feeling most people are in the US and wouldn’t come this far. Thoughts? Anyone?

If you have a chance, listen to Reeger’s podcast…she mentions medical weight loss medication for those of us that have regained. I haven’t checked into yet but I will. I am NOT going back to being obese.
